When things start to cool down—whether it’s the pace, the temperature, or an emotion, fall tiptoes in with a mirror, reflecting the change of the season. For some, life may look the same; for others, drastically different.
We tend to put the most pressure on ourselves this time of year. We’re in the home stretch. As each leaf starts to fall, we turn it over and read off all the things we had promised ourselves when things were still frozen in place, waiting to be defrosted in the moment fate had planned.
Self-reflection? It’s good. It’s great, really. But when does it become too much? Like a self-cleaning machine that’s on all day, every day. Going over spots that didn’t even have a chance to just…be yet.
September is restorative. It’s tending to things with proper care. It’s meant to be soft even if the air is sharp. Self-reflection does not allow for self-doubt or harsh criticism. It shows us reality. It offers us a moment to process.
It reminds us of this:
We can be okay, even when we are searching for our path. We can find joy in the present, knowing we can not control the past. Knowing that we are still looking for more.
With Love,
